We have an opening for a suitably qualified and experienced Systems Engineer to drive and support major IT projects such as migrating identified workloads. The role is strategic for leveraging off the Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure being consumed and to give focus on compliance and security aspects thereof. This role is based at the Head Office in Cape Town and will report directly to the Server Infrastructure Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate Security risks and Security Processes to business and IT that is fit for purpose
  • Log and Track vulnerability assessments and security breaches within the environment and support
  • users and IT users by defining their access rights and privileges
  • Support the SLA, RTO and RPO objectives
  • Manage, support, and monitor predominantly M365 and Azure systems and infrastructure within scope
  • Implement new M365 solutions while ensuring existing solutions and workflows remain stable
  • Review existing M365 processes to ensure that gaps or errors are identified and resolved within
  • defined SLA’s
  • Oversee server infrastructure including support, design, building and maintaining operating systems,
  • application software and system management tools
  • Conduct risk assessments and assist with the baseline requirements for changes in the server
  • infrastructure in line with the agreed change management processes
  • Commission and decommission hardware and software and other related infrastructure components
  • in accordance with established safety, quality vendor specific best practices
  • Support, Design and build installation procedures and standards
  • Support asset management initiatives through ensuring that the administration, storage, distribution,
  • movement and disposal of hardware and software assets are carried out
  • Create test cases and test scripts to test new and existing software and services for vulnerabilities.
  • Execute operation procedures including infrastructure configuration, installation, maintenance, and
  • backups
  • Contribute to the planning, implementation, building and configuration of IT Infrastructure
  • maintenance and installation work
  • Contribute to the Support, Design, Management and execution of the data protection and disaster
  • recovery functionality within the environment
  • Communicate and coordinate with 3rd party vendors in relation to projects and day to day deliverables
  • while acting as an escalation point between the organization and the vendor
  • Document newly implemented solutions and maintain documentation with changes applied to the
  • solution

  • Adhere to defined SLA’s, procedures, standards and measures of quality
  • Prioritise and diagnose incidents and requests according to agreed procedures

  • Conduct technical evaluation and suggest proposed physical architectures along with detailed designs
  • Support and enforce the IT security Policy initiatives
  • Support the asset management process for both hardware and software within scope
  • Adhere to Vendor Specific Best Practices
  • Infrastructure Systems and Project Management:
  • Support, Design, Build and maintain infrastructure with a focus on the M365 and Azure builds,
  • including installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, Hardware, WAN, LAN,
  • application software and system management tools within scope
  • Monitor, Evaluate and recommend necessary changes to
  • Infrastructure design, systems and processes within scope
  • Coordinate and support the project plan’s cost, resources, time, scope, communication, and quality
  • deliverables
  • Ensure that all project deliverables are captured and updated on the project plan
  • Management of escalations and identified risks with the project stakeholders as deemed appropriately
  • Change Management, Risk and Business Continuity:
  • Execute infrastructure changes successfully by adhering to change management principles
  • Deliver system guidelines for cost, productivity, schedule, and quality
  • Perform Risk and business impact assessments and ensure that due diligence and research forms part
  • of the change management process
  • Enforce the organizations Risk, Change and business continuity initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Management:
  • Managing timely communications to the end user; ensuring the response SLA is met and the user is
  • kept up to date during the lifecycle of the incident/service request.
  • Escalate issues timeously and appropriately when necessary
  • Ensure that 3rd party vendors adhere to the organizations approved processes and procedures

Requirements and Experience:

  • Office 365 Certification/s
  • MCSE 2012 Server Infrastructure/MCSE 2008
  • 2+ years in a Microsoft 365 Engineering role or equivalent Microsoft cloud services experience
  • Experience in administration of SharePoint Online, Teams, and One Drive
  • Experience in M365 governance (Security and Compliance)
  • Experience in Active Directory administration
  • Experience in PowerShell for M365 administration
  • Must have 4+ years direct experience supporting Microsoft Exchange and the Microsoft 365
  • collaboration stack including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and other Admin Portals
  • Previous experience supporting Software as a Service (SAAS) applications and on‐premise
  • applications
  • Must have a good understanding and extensive experience in email flow, email security, Active
  • Directory/Azure Active Directory/Active
  • Directory Federation Services (ADFS)
  • Must have experience with AzureAD and its components including Intune.
  • Must have Scripting skills/PowerShell experience
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, Visio and Projects
  • Azure AD administration experience, including policy and configuration changes
  • Knowledge and experience in DELL Servers, EMC Storage systems and IBM V Series Storage
